New fire chief to be sworn in at open house Fire Department

The public is invited to an open house to congratulate newly appointed City of Dover Fire Chief Richard Driscoll. Driscoll, a 30-year veteran of Dover Fire and Rescue, was appointed fire chief in July.

The open house will be held on Monday, Aug. 29, from 4:30-6:30 p.m., at the Liberty North End Fire Station. Driscoll will be officially sworn in as fire chief by the city clerk during the open house. The swearing-in is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.

Driscoll, a lifelong Dover resident, began his career with Dover Fire and Rescue at 19 years old. He most recently served as assistant fire chief, and was named interim chief during the national search for a new fire chief.
