Foliage Cruise to Head into Great Bay and the Cocheco River aboard ‘The Heritage’
Portsmouth, NH- August 31, 2011 - Portsmouth Harbor Cruises (PHC) has announced availability of the Inland River and Fall Foliage cruise schedule. New Englanders and visitors looking for a great way to see beautiful fall foliage colors while learning about the area’s history should consider coming aboard PHC’s vessel Heritage for a scenic tour into Great Bay or up the Cocheco River into downtown Dover, New Hampshire. Fall foliage cruises are one of PHC’s most popular cruises which started back in 1982.
“Starting September 12th, our cruises will leave Portsmouth and head inland where we will pass all of New Hampshire's industrial waterfront, tankers, freighters and cable ships loading and unloading, and past the remains of old shipyards where military and merchant vessels were built throughout our history,” says PHC Captain, Andrew Cole.
Built in 1963 in Deltaville, VA, the Heritage is 60 feet long and holds 49 passengers – perfect for an intimate experience as well as better access to interesting locations around the Seacoast area. The Heritage is the only Coast Guard inspected passenger vessel offering trips in the back channel behind New Castle, NH allowing PHC to circumnavigate the island (and also pass closely by the Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion). The Heritage is also able to go up the Cocheco River right into downtown Dover, NH on a regular basis.
The Heritage offers many other types of cruises as well such as:
- Harbor cruises
- Isles of Shoals cruises
- Evening cruises lightly narrated for a more relaxing trip
- Private charters
