New Early Literacy Station for kids at the Dover Library

Thanks to the Friends of the Dover Public Library, the Children’s Room now has an AWE Early Literacy Station™ (ELS) for young patrons. The ELS is an all-in-one kid-friendly computer designed to optimize educational effectiveness while making learning fun and exciting. The Early Literacy Station™ offers children ages 2-10 a safe, stand-alone computer (not connected to the Internet) that is age-appropriate, engaging, and academically relevant for children. The colorful keyboard, tiny mouse, and touch screen monitor, and headphones promote easy learning and almost unlimited opportunities for discovery.

The Early Literacy Station comes loaded with entertaining educational software (50+ programs) covering seven curricular areas: reading, math, science, social studies, writing, arts & music, and reference.

Since acquiring the ELS, library staff have observed that the programs are very easy to use. Children with little or no computer experience are able to sit down and start playing and learning on a wide variety of levels and there have been many positive comments from parents and children alike (such as this one from a three-year-old: “This is so much fun. Can we come here again?”). Visit the library’s Children’s Room soon and give the AWE Early Literacy Station™ a try!
