BOSTON, MA – Jeanne A. Hulit, New England Regional Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration, today announced the selection of Greta Johansson as the new district director for the New Hampshire SBA office. Greta Johansson currently serves as deputy district director of SBA’s Connecticut office in Hartford, CT.
Commenting on the selection of Ms. Johansson, Hulit said “Greta brings to the position over 29 years of service to the SBA, serving in positions of increasing responsibility from loan specialist to deputy area director in the disaster program to deputy district director in the Connecticut office. Greta has the proven leadership, management and communication skills that are essential to the agency as we assist small businesses during these changing times.”
Johansson has served as deputy district director of the SBA’s Connecticut office since 1996. In this position she has been responsible for management and direction of the staff, educating and assisting many community lenders with the use of the SBA loan guarantee products, and provided direct help to small businesses owners seeking to access federal contracting programs. Her knowledge and understanding of the needs of both small business owners and the small business lending community resulted in her participation in several key SBA initiatives to modernize its lending procedures for the SBA’s 7a and 504 programs as well as the recently announced Community Advantage loan products.
Bernard M. Sweeney, district director of the Connecticut SBA office commented. “Greta’s dedication to understand and find ways to address the needs of small business owners has been her prime motivation. Throughout her fifteen years in the Connecticut office she has worked with large and small lenders and our valued SBA partners at SCORE, the Connecticut Small Business Development Center and our women’s business centers in a unified mission to help our small business owners grow and prosper throughout the state. New Hampshire small businesses and small business lenders will soon discover they have a bright, tested and true leader at the helm.”
“I am deeply honored to have been selected for this very important position in New England,” stated Johansson. “It is difficult to leave Connecticut and the quality professionals at the Connecticut District office and our SBA partners throughout the state who help small business owners each day. I am also enthused about joining the SBA team in New Hampshire which is known for its tremendous staff. It is humbling to follow in the footsteps of district directors like Bill Phillips and Wit Jones who served the state’s small business community for so many years. I look forward to building upon their success and to working with the our partners at the New Hampshire Small Business Development Center, SCORE, the recently announced SNHU Women’s Business Center and the lending and economic development communities.”
“When you look for a new director for a SBA district office, you look for someone who is the right fit for the office, our SBA partners and for the community the office serves. After review of a broad selection of highly qualified candidates, I believe in Greta Johansson we have found the right fit for the small business community in New Hampshire,” added SBA Regional Administrator Jeanne Hulit.
