Holiday & Family Gatherings - How to Tackle the Topic of a Parents’ Future Health Care Needs

RiverWoods Retirement Community in Exeter, NH to host ‘Starting the Conversation,’ a free info session for families.

Exeter, NH (November 7, 2011) – The holidays are a great time for adult children to talk with their parents about future health care needs. Or maybe it’s the parents who take the lead by sharing health concerns and asking their children the ‘what ifs’ such as, ‘What if mom falls and breaks her hip?’ Or ‘What would happen to mom if we lost dad?’ Unfortunately, these types of questions are often only asked AFTER a family health crisis occurs. It can be challenging even for the closest families to talk about the future, especially when it comes to health care planning. But talking now is better than waiting for a crisis– the challenge is, how do you start the conversation?

The experts at RiverWoods are here to help by hosting a free presentation for adult children and their parents called, “Starting the Conversation,” a succinct, one hour information session for families who want to start the conversation about future health care needs. Attendees will hear options and learn approaches to begin their own conversations. In less than an hour, you’ll walk away with some valuable insights from professionals, and also a delicious dinner to go for two, since we know it’s a busy time.

This free information session is set for Thursday, November 17, 2011 from 5:30pm to 6:30pm at The Ridge campus at RiverWoods Continuing Care Retirement Community, 10 White Oak Drive, Exeter, NH 03833.
An RSVP is required as seating is limited. Call Diane Burch today at 603-658-3014 or email dburch@riverwoodsrc.org to reserve a seat for you and a friend.
