RiverWoods community outreach efforts to culminate in gala auction fundraiser for Child and Family Services of NH.
A group of runners from RiverWoods Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in Exeter, NH had more than the finish line in mind when running in the recent Manchester City Marathon. The RiverWoods runners raised more than $2,500 for Child and Family Services of NH (CFS), officially kicking off a partnership which is on track to culminate in a fundraising auction and gala next fall.
Since its founding in 1994, RiverWoods residents have held an annual fundraiser for another local non-profit. That 17 year RiverWoods tradition continues with the CFS partnership.
“The race may have ended, but it’s really just one stop on the journey for RiverWoods and Child and Family Services.” said RiverWoods CEO, Justine Vogel. “CFS helps one of the most underserved and vulnerable populations. Too many families are struggling this time of year and RiverWoods residents and employees are honored to partner with such a vital organization.”
RiverWoods raised a record $70,000 for CFS last fall at a similar live and silent auction and gala evening. More than 300 attendees from the greater seacoast community attended. The staff and residents of RiverWoods donated hundreds of hours of time to plan and prepare for the evening. Both organizations hope the 2012 fundraiser will be an even bigger benefit for local families in need.
“Partnering with RiverWoods has been an energizing experience for all of us at Child and Family Services,” says Mike Ostrowski, president and CEO, “and with the marathon, we certainly hit the ground running for our new year of service together. We are amazed by the vitality of RiverWoods residents and staff and are thankful for all the ways they are helping us to better the lives of children and families.”
CFS is one of the oldest non-profits in New Hampshire devoted specifically to the issues of child wellness and family strength.
