An Evening by the Sea
Dear Friends,
We are very excited about an event we are in the process of planning for Sunday, August 19th from 5-8pm at Wentworth by the Sea Country Club! An Evening by the Sea – a cocktail party that takes place overlooking the beautiful ocean side and features live music by Tim Janis – is a new fundraiser for our organization. And we really need your assistance to make it spectacular … and successful.
Here are ways you can help:
SILENT AUCTION: We will have a silent auction and we want it to be special and interesting. Here are some examples of what we are looking for:
· Tickets to a show, theater and/or sporting event
· Autographed memorabilia
· Handcrafted artwork – perhaps even something created (or a poem written) by a local patient
· A dinner in someone’s home prepared by a local chef
· Vacation items
· Etc.
RAFFLE ITEMS: We will also be preparing a boxed raffle “game” and we need a number of items for that as well. This is different than our silent auction so the items may be of lesser value.
VOLUNTEERS: We have a great group of volunteers helping us with this event … but we need a few more.
If you, your company, or someone you know would be willing to make a donation, or if you are interested in learning how you can help before and/or during the event, please let me know.
Visit www.mybreastcancersupport.org/ sea for more information about An Evening by the Sea. And by all means feel free to forward this email along to others!
THANK YOU from all of us!
Wendy
Proceeds from this event will benefit BreastCancerStories.org a NH 501(c)3 organization whose new, local My Breast Cancer Support initiative provides wellness programs to seacoast area patients.

Residents should enter the McConnell Center using Door #7 on the St. Thomas Street side of the building. Additional cooling stations will open, if needed.

Garrison Hill Park in running for $100,000 grant
Garrison Hill Park is making a strong showing in a contest seeking "America's Favorite Park." The contest, sponsored by Coca-Cola, will award a $100,000 grant to the winning park. Second- and third-place parks will receive $50,000 and $25,000 grants, respectively. A park that places between fourth and 25th place will be chosen randomly for a $15,000 grant.
The contest ends July 15. Garrison Hill Park is currently in the top 20. There is no limit on the number of votes cast.
Although other parks are listed as part of the contest, the Recreation Advisory Board met recently and decided to focus on Garrison Hill Park for the contest.
"We are recommending that people select the Garrison Hill Park Revitalization Project, as it's one that brings back one of the hidden gems of the Seacoast to being a true four-season recreation spot and it's one that we are working very hard as a group to having it be funded almost solely by donations of time, material and money," said Scott Kelley, a Recreation Advisory Board member.
Kelley said the Garrison Hill Park Revitalization Project aims to completely overhaul the park, including repainting the tower, removing overgrown or dead trees and bushes, and opening up the top of the hill to allow views of the surrounding area. In addition the project wants to create new hiking, biking, running, cross country skiing and snow shoeing trails, clean up and add better picnic areas and more family friendly activities, and clean up and add new alpine ski runs and a new rope tow.

Service Credit Union donates membership buttons to Air National Guard families
PORTSMOUTH, NH. (June 19, 2012) --- Service Credit Union President/CEO Gordon Simmons and Executive Vice President William Newman will present 157th Air Refueling Wing Family Program Coordinator Bonnie Rice with membership buttons to the Service Credit Union Movies Series and other events at the Prescott Park Arts Festival. These season passes will allow 100 guard family members to access all of these events at the park without being asked to pay a donation before entering any event.
Service Credit Union is partnering with the Prescott Park Arts Festival to present the outdoor movie series on Monday nights. Each Monday night, beginning July 2, 2012, through September, attendees can view some of the most popular and beloved films of all times in Prescott Park.
The series will feature movies played on a high-definition projector and movie screen, specifically designed for the projection of outdoor movies. Combined with the existing sound system utilized for concerts, the result is a high quality film screening experience for these military families to enjoy.
“The Movies Series is proudly sponsored by Service Credit Union and we’re honored to help the military families enjoy these family events,” says Simmons. “Service Credit Union is dedicated to helping the military knowing their daily sacrifices they make for us and our country.”
To kick off the Service Credit Union Movie Series, the first film shown on July 2, will be “Top Gun.” The full schedule of the Service Credit Union Movie Series can be found online servicecu.org/movies.
“This is great opportunity for our airmen and their families to enjoy the local flavor,” says Rice. “It’s especially important for some of the airmen who can’t afford a night out. “
“Service Credit Union has a long history of helping the military especially those at Pease,” says Newman. “We are honored to donate 100 passes to the Prescott Park Movie Series to 157th Air Refueling Wing. These guardsmen make sacrifices to help protect our great country.”
The Service Credit Union Movie Series will be offered with no fixed admission, as with all events offered by Prescott Park Arts Festival, with a suggested donation of $5 to $10.
“We are thrilled and honored to partner with Service Credit Union in donating membership buttons to the Air National Guard,” says Ben Anderson, Prescott Park Arts Festival’s Executive Director. “Bringing theater, music, movies, and summer fun to the wider community is extremely important to us. We are so pleased to be given this opportunity to give back to the families of those who serve our county proudly.”
