5 Green Tips from Yankee Thermal Imaging and Green Alliance!

This week’s tips come from Yankee Thermal Imaging in Dover and Portsmouth.

1. While it's important to maintain ventilation, did you know that restaurants can experience up to 50% of their heat loss through exhaust fans? Maximizing exhaust fan efficiency can lower utility costs while improving comfort. Ask your favorite restaurant if they use a variable speed fan, or if they'd consider installing one!

2. Biofuels can help families and business owners save 45% on heating costs. Oil burning homes can experience significant fuel cost savings by converting to burning local wood pellet fuel. Wood pellets are a clean burning renewable resource, and pellet fuel delivery can be fully automated.

3. LED lights are mercury-free and use less than 10% of the energy required by incandescent bulbs. LED lights also help reduce air conditioning load and, with the cooling season upon us, provide a great way to help control rising utility costs.

4. A drafty window or door can be identified simply by holding up a sheet of paper around the perimeter. Improving the performance of your exterior doors and windows by using this basic technique can save you up 10% on heating.

5. Install ceiling fans. The breeze created by a good ceiling fan can eliminate the need to run your AC on cooler days, and will allow you to set the thermostat a few degrees higher on days when your air conditioning is in operation.

  1. It's crazy how thermal imaging can perceive so strongly! We are looking to get our house checked out on our electrical components. We need to analyze and diagnose our electrical wires with the panel as well.
