THIRD ANNUAL FATHERS DAY 5K CELEBRATES DADS AND RAISES FUNDS FOR LOCAL FAMILIES IN NEED

Father’s Day 5K sponsors invite the public to put on a Necktie and head to Margaritas for the 3rd Annual Father’s Day 5K.  L to R: Jeanne Supple of Measured Progress, Janet Atkins of Goodwin Community Health, Erik Roy of Ross Furniture, Jason Breard of Margaritas, Eli Tretter of Werz 107.1, Rose O’hare of Northeast Credit Union, Lara Willard of Goodwin Community Health.

The Third Annual Father’s Day 5K at Margaritas is Sunday, June 17, 2012.  Registration for the event is now open.  Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are invited to celebrate fatherhood at this family-friendly run/walk presented by Ross Furniture of Dover.  Proceeds help local families in need gain access to quality health care, at the lowest cost possible, through Goodwin Community Health.

June is Men’s Health Month and the race’s popular necktie theme calls on participants to wear a tie in honor of the dads, brothers and sons who touch their lives. This is a fun race, on a certified course, complete with margaritas-style food and fiesta.
“Helping your neighbors in need, along with a great morning run or walk in honor of Dad, is a wonderful way to start off Father’s Day.  Margaritas goes all out to make this a fun 5K and great Father’s Day tradition,“ says Lara Willard, Race Director and Marketing Manager for Goodwin Community Health.  “Funds from the event help the most vulnerable members of our community gain access to desperately needed health care by minimizing financial barriers to doctors, dentists and mental health professionals.”

Beginner and seasoned runners/walkers can visit http://goodwinch.org/fathers-day-5k-2012/ orhttp://www.active.com/running/dover-nh/fathers-day-5k-2011 for details and registration.  Registration forms can be completed online, mailed in or dropped-off at Margarita’s or Ross Furniture.  The first two hundred adults to register get a free race T-shirt.  Same day registration is available beginning at 7:30am.  The race kicks-off at 8:30am.  Day of registration is twenty-five dollars but advanced registration is only twenty dollars and just five dollars for children under twelve.  Participants are encouraged, but not required, to collect donations and raise funds for the event by setting up their own fundraising page to collect donations when they register for the event.

The top male and female runner will win a twenty-five dollar gift certificate to Runners Alley.  Twenty-five dollar gift certificates to Philbrick’s Sports will go to the top males and females in each of the ten age divisions:  14 and under, 15-19,  20-24, 25-29,  30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-59, and 60 plus.

Ross Furniture of Dover is the 2012 underwriter of the Father’s Day 5k at Margaritas and has generously donated a La-Z-Boy Recliner door prize.  Additional sponsors include Measured Progress, Homewood Suites of Dover; Garrison Family Dental, The Meat House of Dover; Philbrick Sports; Northeast Credit Union, WERZ 107.1, PSNH, Wonderland Thrift Shop, Cross Road Children’s Center and Blue Dolphin Screen Printing.
Goodwin Community Health is currently seeking donations of used and unwanted neckties.  Ties can be dropped off at Goodwin Community Health, 311 Route 108 in Somersworth, or donated on race-day.
