Dover, NH, April 13, 2011 – This Father’s Day, Sunday, June 19, 2011, runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are invited to lace-up their sneakers and head to Margarita’s of Dover, for the second annual Father’s Day 5K – a benefit for Avis Goodwin Community Health Center.
Registration for the event is now open.
This June event celebrates Men’s Health Month and invites the public to run and walk for the Dads, brothers and sons who touch their lives. This year, the race has a necktie theme – participants are encouraged to wear a necktie in honor of someone special or for Father’s everywhere. Participants can also set up their own fundraising page to collect donations when the register for the event. Proceeds will help local families struggling without insurance to gain access to quality healthcare through Avis Goodwin Community Health Center.
This is a fun race complete with a party and prizes. Margaritas will set the stage for this one-of-a-kind, family-friendly 5K featuring a great post-race Mexican fiesta of food and drink! The top male and female runner will win a one-hundred twenty-five dollar gift certificate to Runners Alley. Twenty-five dollar gift certificates to Philbrick’s Sports will go to the top males and females in each of the ten age divisions: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-59, and 60+. Kickoff time is 8:30am.
“Access and affordability make it very difficult for many local families to keep up with regular visits to doctors, dentists and mental health professionals. Avis Goodwin Community Health Center helps bridge the gap to make routine and preventative health care for many people who might otherwise fall through the cracks,” says Lara Willard, Marketing Manager for Avis Goodwin. “We hope this race will build on the incredible momentum from last year and attract from the local running community as well as first time runners and walkers drawn in by the cause.”

Registration forms can be completed online, mailed in or dropped-off at Margarita’s of Dover. The first two hundred adults to register get a free race T-shirt. Day of registration is twenty-five dollars but advanced registration is only twenty dollars and just five dollars for children under twelve. Participants are encourage but not required to collect donations and raise funds for the event.
This year’s event will include a raffle for Red Sox tickets courtesy of W.B. Mason.
